FAQs:
Payment:
Barefoot Physical Therapy and Yoga accepts credit cards, cash/debit cards, and checks at the time of service. Technically, we are an Out of Network, "fee for service", practice and do not process any insurance claims.
However, we will provide you with a Superbill as receipt of your payment which you may submit for reimbursement directly to you from your insurance company.
Do You Take My Insurance?
Barefoot Physical Therapy and Yoga is an "Out of Network" provider, cash-based practice, therefore we are unable to submit any insurance claims on your behalf. Long before the healthcare debate took prominence we saw how the future of rehabilitation was being compromised by the aggressive policies of insurance companies to make collections more difficult and limit payment to increase their profits. We would not be able to provide the high level of care and individualized treatment that we do at the rates the insurance companies currently pay for physical therapy. We believe that we each have a relationship with our insurance provider that is related, but separate from our health care team members' relationship. It is each of our responsibility as patients to get reimbursed according to our insurance plan. Removing the health care provider from the insurance collection process means that there is no compromise of your care by the insurer. Our goal is to get you better, with this model we are not bound by insurance company limitations. When getting the proper amount of time with your therapist, you will heal faster and need fewer visits. While you may initially feel that this will cost you more out of pocket, you will realize that you can actually save money and time while recovering quickly with quality care, enabling us to give you the real results you need.
Can I Get Reimbursed From My Insurance Company?

Do I Need a Physician's Prescription?
No. In the State of California, you have direct access to your Physical Therapist - patients are allowed to receive Physical Therapy Evaluation and Treatment without a physician's prescription for 45 days or 12 visits, whichever comes first.
During this Evaluation, an examination including a comprehensive systems review and medical screening will be completed. This examination will ensure an appropriate referral to another health care professional for any presentation that is outside the scope of physical therapy practice. Direct access has proven to be highly beneficial in several important ways: it has reduced waiting time before treatment can begin, decreased the financial burden on the patient, and improved health care utilization.
However, if you are seeking reimbursement for your payment, some insurance guidlines require a prescription for you to be reimbursed. We're here to help with this process. It is suggested that you use our "How to Determine your Insurance Benefits for Physical Therapy" form and check with your insurance provider to verify if pre-authorization is required to be reimbursed for 'Out -of-Network' services. If a referral to a medical provider is needed, we will be happy to provide you with a referral with pertinent clinical finding for your provider.
